One
Factory – One Year – One Environmental Project
(1-1-1 Programme) (Mar. 11, 2005)
With the increasingly polluted air and water (mainly
due to the mismanagement and pollution by mankind) in
China and Hong Kong, our livings and our businesses are
increasingly being affected. Since Mr. Daniel M. Cheng
has been elected as the Chairman of the Gp. 26 (Environmental
Industry) of Federations of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI)
proposed The One Factory-One Year-One Environmental
Project (1-1-1) programme a program.
The One Factory-One Year-One Environmental Project
(1-1-1) programme has been launched on Mar 11th,
2005 with Dr. Sarah Liao, Secretary of Environment, Transport
and Works of HKSAR, as the guest of honor, along with
Guangdong Environmental officials. In the meantime, nearly
300 business leaders and chairmen of various Trade and
Industrial Associations, Government officers have attended
our launch.
1-1-1 is the most important and largest scale voluntary
environmental initiative by the industries to roll back
the pollutions in the Pearl River Delta Region that may
have been created by the overwhelming development in the
last 20 years. It starts with each 1-1-1 member’s
factory to initiate a green project each year. With 77,000
Hong Kong based enterprises in Guangdong, we anticipate
this 1-1-1 programme will bring an enormous and positive
impact to the better environment. Companies which participate
in the program will benefit from environmental trainings,
see eventual returns in their efforts through better pollution
control, cost savings in energy and material, improve
corporate image and consumers’ loyalty in their
products.
