Water
Consumption Efficiency Audit Program for HK Jockey Club
In
the past summer, Dunwell Engineering Co., Ltd. undertook a
consultancy project to study the water consumption efficiency
at the headquarters and racecourses in Happy Valley and Shatin
respectively of Hong Kong Jockey Club. With the co-operation
with Johnson Control, Dunwell is responsible for the job involved
site measurement on water consumption, analysis of water consumption
and provision of practical water saving solutions. Since Hong
Kong is lack of natural water, water saving is always an emphasis
of the government, enterprises and individuals. However, without
a thorough and detailed analysis program, the initiative can
hardly gain a strong momentum, nor can it achieve the best
results.
In
view of the above phenomenon, engineers at Dunwell conducted
the Water Consumption Efficiency Audit Program for the headquarters’
office building in Happy Valley in August and September 2007.
With the results from the site measurement on water consumption,
a water consumption table showing the water consumption of
each department was compiled, and the table is the baseline
for the following water reduction program. Since Hong Kong
has no official guidelines or indicators for water saving
and water consumption for office building, our engineers studied
the standards from the US, Mainland China and the UK for preparing
a detailed water saving proposal to Jockey Club. In the next
three seasons, our engineers will continue to implement the
remaining Water Consumption Efficiency Audit Programs on Shatin
headquarters as well as racecourses of Happy Valley and Shatin. |
